The Beginnings

A public meeting was held in July 1949 to discuss the need for a public hall and the first community association council was formed. The constitution was adopted on the 30th November 1950.Fund raising started and plans were drawn up by Mr Whalley K U D C architect. By 1953 £1500 had been raised. New planes were made, these were approved by the Ministry of Education on 27th April 1954 and a grant of £1500 made towards the estimated cost of £4500 for phase 1.
