Medal_of_Merit_1959
Growing up in Chelwood road we were always playing on the “Field” or “Humpty Dumps” on the opposite side of the playing fields. During the late 50s skip Harrison could often be found pottering around the foundation of the new scout hut. My mum would often pop down with a cup of tea for skip. As kids we were always playing around the footings and hiding behind the piles of bricks and equipment and when skip arrived we would try and help, well we were trying! If it wasn’t for skip Harrison I don’t think there would be a 1st Saltford Scout group. He put his heart and soul into the Scout movement and so deserved the “Medal of Merit”.
