Each year the theme for the carnival entry had to be tailored around the availability and physical requirements of the group. This year Mrs Hurlow was expecting Neil, so was unable to walk the whole carnival route. A mobile bed had to be made. The bedstead was supplied by the mobile Co-op butcher, Tom, who delivered it Saturday morning and Ray Palfrey took the wheels of his sons trolley and strapped them to the bed legs, to great costs later !. (no steering) Standing on the pavement. Blonde lady Mrs Madge, Betty Williams mother.
