Henry VIII

Money was tight in the 60s therefore improvisation was the order of the day. The bed was provided by the Tom the Co-oP butcher on loan from a customer in Wick, one hour prior to the carnival start. It was mounted on wheels from John Palfreys trolley. Bed cover was Mrs Wilson’s chenille table cover and bed drapes were velvet curtains belonging to Mrs Palfreys mother, who lived in Radstock. The hats were made of remnants of materials, lace curtains and lamp shades, which all hade to be returned after the event. Mrs Hurlow (Henry 8th)was pregnant and was advised not to walk the route, hence the bed.
